When to See a Chiropractor After a Personal Injury Accident

Jun 28, 2022

If you’ve been involved in a personal-injury accident (such as falling down the stairs, slipping in the shower and winding up on the floor, or somehow hurting yourself while engaged in any other activity), you may be questioning whether a visit to your Henderson chiropractor is in order.

Maybe your back pain isn’t going away on its own, or perhaps you jarred your neck during the impact and still can’t move it freely from side to side. Is it time to make an appointment?

Guidelines to Follow

  • While making a point to see your chiropractor after any personal injury can be extremely beneficial, here are some guidelines that you’ll want to follow when it comes to helping you decide if it is time to pursue further treatment remedies:
  • The pain is shooting, or intense.
  • The personal injury happened days ago yet you still don’t feel better.
  • The pain isn’t relieved after trying other at-home methods (like ice, heat, and taking a pain reliever).
  • You’ve been evaluated and have no broken bones or dislocated joints, but the pain continues to stay the same or is getting worse.
  • You have difficulty walking, standing, or sitting.

Remember that not all injuries are apparent right away. It is possible that you did some damage to your body without necessarily feeling pain or discomfort. That is why it is always suggested that you at least get checked out by your Henderson chiropractor so that you don’t face issues months or years down the road.

If you’re ready to help your body heal after a personal injury accident, call Advanced Spine & Rehabilitation and schedule an appointment with Dr. Russell. He’s here for you!
