Physical Therapy for Back Pain
Physical therapy for back pain is different now than what was available to the whole field of chiropractic ten years ago. Protocols for treating back pain have been updated to include the latest and best treatments that can reduce pain faster and speed up healing. The beauty of these back pain physical therapy protocols is that they’re all non-invasive, drugless, and safe ways to initiate healing in the body.
Physical therapy at Advanced Spine and Rehabilitation from your Henderson chiropractor may include any of the following:
- Strengthening exercises to relieve the pressure on discs or damaged tissues
- Instruction on how to sit, stand, sleep, and get up from chairs and out of bed
- Ultrasound treatment
- Electrical therapies that stimulate muscle regeneration and healing
- Cold Laser therapies
- The use of cold or heat applications such as hot or cold packs or cold sprays
- Instruction on how to lift properly
The physical therapy part of your low back pain treatment is always administered by our Henderson chiropractors who are trained in physical therapy.
Non-Surgical Decompression May Be Part of Your Back Pain Physical Therapy Treatment
Spinal decompression is available from your Henderson chiropractor at Advanced Spine and Rehabilitation.
In some cases, low back pain treatment may include one of the latest treatments for herniated discs called non-surgical spinal decompression. In this treatment, the discs between your vertebrae that are bulging and causing irritated nerves and back pain are stretched out gently on a padded table. A computer slowly and precisely stretches your spine, increasing the hydration, circulation and nutrients of the discs. There’s no pain with the procedure.
Two studies using MRI scans on the effects of non-surgical decompression showed that those experiencing back pain experienced a 90% reduction in disc herniations and an 83% reduction in pain. No needles of any kind were used. No drugs were used. And no surgery was performed.
Your Henderson chiropractor at Advanced Spine and Rehabilitation will decide what type of chiropractic and physical therapy methods you will receive in all phases of your treatment.
Remember that any questions you have about physical therapy are easily answered by your chiropractor. Understanding how your body works is important for efficient physical therapy for back pain.
